What an awesome spot - I understand why they’re at the top of the World’s 50 Best Bars list.
I’ve visited their restaurant twice and had equally impressive experiences - once in the front bar and another time in the back room 'Coop’.
The portions are massive compared to other similar spots in the city and I am happy to report that this is one of the best chicken sandos in the city, if not anywhere. They also have a super unique cocktail program and I want to come back to try more of them.
What Food To Order:
Hot Honey Fried Chicken Sandwich
Popcorn Chicken
Chicken Liver Mousse
Koji Cucumbers
There really aren’t any misses on the menu—we ordered one of everything with our group of 4. The Mochi Donut sandwich is great, but decadent, so we split it between everyone at the table.
What Drinks To Order:
Japanese Cold Noodle
Waldorf Salad
There are plenty of other cool cocktails to choose from, but these were my favorites!
How To Get A Table:
Try to get a reservation online, but good luck. I’ve never been able to secure one that way.
Instead, I recommend getting there (or sending a friend) around 4:45pm as a walk-in and you’ll be about the 10th person or so in line on a weekday. Likely longer on a weekend, so feel free to show up closer to 4:30pm or so.
Once they open the door at 5pm, you can either sit in the front room and order from a limited menu, or put your name in.
We put our name in and the table was ready about an hour or so later, which was the perfect amount of time to grab a drink somewhere else close by.
Of note - your entire party needs to be with you before they’ll sit you at a table in the back room. Show up early, on time and with your crew.
Enjoy this one - it’s one of my favorite top NYC picks!
